Mike Nichols is a senior at Monroe Township High School who was severely injured during a hockey game on January 4, 2014 fracturing his C5 vertebrate, resulting in a spinal cord injury. He was hospitalized at Morristown Medical Center for five and a half weeks before being transferred to the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation Medical Center on February 12th where he has begun the next stage of the process. Mike and his family face an incredibly long and difficult journey on his road to recovery.
Team Mikey Strong 23 is a group of friends and family members that have been galvanized to support the recovery of Michael Nichols. Mike has a burning passion for the game of hockey and had plans to attend college and continue his play at Widener University this fall. While Mike's injury may require re-examination of the time frame, Team Mikey Strong 23 remains focused on Mike's rehabilitation to ensure that every goal he sets has the opportunity to become a reality. Mike is a fighter at heart and has always welcomed the challenges that he faced - we are confident that this will be no different.
On April 27th, TFW Brooklyn along with Bobby Munday (Ave H) and Billy Gallagher (from district 1) will be holding a fundraiser for Mikey. We need your help!
We will be holding energy classes for a $20.00 donation, @ 2100 Flatbush Ave, from 10am-1pm, all proceeds raised will be given to Mikey and his family. We are also asking for donations for a Chinese auction. Please help us make this fundraiser a success! Come join us for this event! Bring your sneakers; and your energy to help out Mikey There will be a DJ as well as a live musical performance. Fuel Food will be providing meal samples, and we will have supplement samples and tips.
