Friday, October 19, 2012. This is Rolando Scott Jr., President of CWA Local 1109. The Verizon contract is ratified. – Members of the Communications Workers of America at Verizon Communications ratified a four year agreement covering about 35,000 CWA represented workers from Virginia to New England. The members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers also voted to ratify a four year agreement. The National Union has directed the Locals not to post the actual numbers publicly, because Verizon has no right to the results of our internal ratification numbers. As always, CWA 1109 will comply with the National Union’s strategy. Our fired “1109 – 4” (Leighton McGeachy, Tim McHugh, John Teske and Mike Wunder) will be returning back to work this Monday, October 22nd. On behalf of our Brothers and their Families, I’d like to thank all of our members who financially supported them and their families throughout their long ordeal. Thank you, it means a lot. Stay in touch with the tape, the WiRE and the website for further updated information, solidarity forever, and remember … In Unity there is strength!
