This Saturday, union members from across the country will be demonstrating to protect our collective bargaining rights which are being challenged in the Janus v. AFSCME Supreme Court case. This case will allow public sector workers to free ride and not pay union dues and will severely limit a union's ability to bargain for their members. This case is just the beginning of the larger war on organized labor. It will only be a matter of time before this case comes after our local's ability to effectively bargain on your behalf. On Saturday, unions from across the tri-state area will converge on New York City to hold a rally at Foley Square. When Verizon tried to break our union, we stood up and fought back. We rallied, picketed and struck. On Saturday, we need that type of turnout and energy once again because it's not just about public sector unions, but ALL unions. We hope to see all of you on Saturday, wearing red and ready to fight for our bargaining rights once again. For more information, please call the union hall, (718) 444-1109. We will be meeting up with other CWA District 1 members at 10:30 on the corner of Reade St & Lafayette St and then marching over to Foley Square.
