  • As a result of this program, students will be able to develop the carpentry skills required to build and/or remodel a home kitchen from beginning to end. This project will provide students with an opportunity to learn how to: 
  • Measure materials and use tools to cut and assemble materials 
  • Frame out and construct walls. 
  • Demonstrate basic principles of electrical current and circuitry. 
  • Explain the components of a household electrical system. 
  • Demonstrate the use of various tools for conducting electrical installations and repairs. 
  • Explain the similarities and differences between various forms of cable and wire. 
  • Demonstrate how to strip and connect wire with a wire connector. 
  • Demonstrate how to install, troubleshoot and repair wall switches. 
  • Demonstrate how to install light fixtures, recessed light fixture, and fluorescent lights, and ceiling fans. 
  • Demonstrate how to install receptacles for large kitchen appliances. 
  • Demonstrate the use of tools to join pipe and fittings. 
  • Demonstrate procedures for cutting pipe. 
  • Install common kitchen fixtures. 
  • Install door frames and hang doors. 
  • Attach, tape, plaster, sand and clean sheetrock. 
  • Choose and apply paint for interior surfaces. 
  • Build shelves and hangar racks. 
  • Install kitchen cabinets. 
  • Demonstrate how to install household appliances. 
  • Perform safe, clean, and quiet demolition.
